FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Questions and answers about the Rome City Pass by Turbopass.
Is using my City Pass tied to visiting the Colosseum?+
No, not at all! You can use your Rome City Pass independently of the Colosseum and start with any attraction you like.
Using the City Pass does include a visit to the Colosseum, but that can take place at any point during your pass's validity, you don't have to start with it.
How flexible am I when using the pass?+
Very flexible! Apart from the fixed reserved time slots for the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums, you can visit all the other attractions in any order and during their respective opening hours. You set your own pace.
For popular attractions such as Castel Sant'Angelo and the Pantheon, we still recommend making a time-slot reservation so you're guaranteed entry and avoid waiting.
How does the City Pass work on site?+
Just show your City Pass at each attraction. In most cases this gives you direct entry, and sometimes a free ticket is issued to you.
At partner shops you show the pass before your purchase to get your discounts. For tours you send your City Pass code to the provider to claim your discount.
Are there special prices and rules for children and teenagers?+
Yes, there are different price categories for the Rome City Pass, because tickets for children and teenagers are cheaper. Special reduced prices apply to everyone aged 6 to 17.
Special rules apply to the Colosseum: children and teenagers under 18 pay no entry there, but still need a free ticket. With your Rome City Pass you get these tickets included automatically, which is why we ask for the child's name and age when you book. The Colosseum tickets are personalised, so please carry a valid identity document for each child (ID card, passport or children's passport).
How many days do I realistically need for all the attractions?+
The City Pass lets you explore Rome at your own pace. For the main highlights such as the Colosseum, Vatican Museums and a Hop-on Hop-off tour, 2 to 3 days are perfect for soaking up the atmosphere of the Eternal City in a relaxed way.
If you'd like to discover a lot, 4 to 5 days offer the best opportunities. Some museums invite you to linger longer, while other attractions are explored more quickly, so shape your programme entirely around your interests.
How exactly does my Colosseum ticket work?+
With your Colosseum ticket from the Rome City Pass you receive: 1x entry to the Colosseum at the booked time, plus 1x entry to the archaeological site of the Roman Forum-Palatine and the Imperial Forums, at the time of your choice within 24 hours before or after your booked Colosseum time.
The Colosseum tickets are personalised and the identity of ticket holders is checked. All travellers should therefore be sure to carry a valid identity document (ID card, passport). Do not buy tickets from supposed vendors outside the Colosseum, you already have everything you need.
When can I reserve for the Colosseum?+
You book your Colosseum visit when you purchase the City Pass, you simply give us your preferred date and we take care of the rest for you.
Reservations become possible about six weeks before the desired date. Your Colosseum tickets are then shown in the digital pass at the latest one to two weeks before your chosen visit date.
How does the optional public transport ticket work?+
Public transport is an optional add-on that you book together with the Rome City Pass. With the public transport ticket you travel free on metro lines A, B and C, the buses, the tram, the regional trains and the suburban trains. You can travel around Rome as much as you like during the validity period.
With your Rome City Pass for 1, 2 or 3 days the public transport ticket is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours. With the Rome City Pass for 4, 5 or 7 days you receive a public transport ticket valid for 7 consecutive days.
How do the Hop-on Hop-off buses work?+
Your Rome City Pass includes 48 hours of all routes through Rome with free audio commentary in many languages. You can change as often as you like and hop on and off at every stop.
Just show your City Pass to a member of the bus operator's staff and you'll receive your ticket.
How does the optional airport transfer work?+
If you've booked the airport transfer, your digital City Pass gives you all the details for using it. The transfer applies to both Rome airports (Fiumicino and Ciampino) and includes an outbound and a return trip.
You can use the transfer flexibly, it is not tied to the validity period of your City Pass.
